Working Spousal Surchage
Villanova is applying a working spouse surcharge for employees who choose to enroll a spouse in the institution’s health plan when that spouse has access to employer-sponsored health coverage through their own employer. In these cases, a $100 per month surcharge will apply for spousal coverage and be effective June 1, 2026 or first date of coverage for new hires. Employees covering a spouse will be asked to submit an affidavit during the enrollment process confirming whether their spouse has access to other employer-sponsored coverage.
Your waiver to be excluded from this surcharge is not automatic, you must request it each year.
